PeerPals.org, will honor Long Island Pediatrician Nancy Lippman, MD as a Community Champion at its 1st Annual Planting Seeds of Community Dinner, Thursday April 7th at the Fox Hollow Inn, Woodbury, NY.
PeerPals.org, based in Long Island, is a nationwide charity that matches preschool children with disabilities with typically developing children in their community for one‐on‐one play dates and group play dates. The PeerPals.org model gives each child with a disability the opportunity to enter kindergarten with at least one friendship with a typically developing peer. At the same time it helps the typical child develop empathy and learn to see past a person’s limitations to who they really are.
Dr. Lippman is double‐boarded in pediatrics and adolescent medicine. She practices in Plainview, NY at Pediatric Health Associates, PC, a division of Allied Pediatrics of New York. “Dr. Lippman understands children with special needs,” explains Peer Pals founder Julie Keffer, mother of three children diagnosed with autism by age two. Dr. Lippman has helped connect Peer Pals with local preschools, helping to spreading the word so parents can sign children up for the Peer Pals experience. Dr. Nancy Lippman is married to Dr. Ron Israeli, a plastic surgeon specializing in breast reconstruction. They have three children, 15 year‐old twins, Ben and Ella and 12 year‐old Alec. Dr. Lippman is also devotes her time to the Zariki School in Tanzania, the Cold Spring Harbor Lab Association and the Westside School PTA.
