Hi Allied! It’s Telemedicine Tuesday!
It’s also my daughter’s 22nd birthday and first day of work as an RN at NYU.
She was born at 33 weeks after a very complicated pregnancy and spent 2 weeks in the NICU after she was born. I had been on bed rest for the last 27 weeks of the pregnancy (part of it spent in the ICU where she and I both fought for our lives).
When she came home, she weighed exactly 4 pounds, and I had almost zero help at home.
So there we were: me, my tiny daughter, my cat and some books about babies. No Facebook, no online local moms group. No Allied Telemedicine.
I was so weak from my pregnancy that I could barely hold her. Those first weeks home were some of the hardest of my life.
If I only had Allied Telemedicine, and I could talk to “22 more years of pediatrics/motherhood” Me, I would have jumped at the chance!
Moms with new babies, please remember that I am here for you. I love those after-hours Telemedicine visits where in a few short minutes I can relieve the stress that I felt (even as a young pediatrician) with so many questions in my head.
There’s no question too small. Even just one quick question about sleeping, feeding, pooping.
I’d love to see you and your “baby”—whether a newborn or a college freshman in my after-hours Telemedicine office
