Asthma Treatments

Asthma tends to appear in childhood and can last throughout adulthood. An asthma attack happens when there is irritation in the lungs after encountering an asthma-inducing trigger. The airways to the lungs swell, cutting off airflow and making it difficult for someone to breathe.

Airway trouble includes:

  • Inflammation
  • Thick mucus buildup
  • Muscle tightness
Asthma Testing and Management

Our asthma specialists are dedicated to helping patients stay ahead of asthma attacks so they can experience easy breathing and peace of mind.

  • We will perform comprehensive breathing tests to determine if the patient has asthma or other breathing complications.
  • We will create an asthma care plan designed around the patient’s needs, complete with medications and other necessary treatments.
  • We will provide informative resources to help you manage asthma at home and on the go.

A good night’s sleep is crucial for a child’s healthy development and an adult’s overall health. If you or your loved one struggles to sleep at night, our sleep specialists can help.

Sleep is the body’s chance to recover and reset. Bodily functions, organs, systems, and more require the sleeping period to recharge and regenerate. However, people can experience a range of sleep disorders, including:

  • Excessive daytime sleepiness
  • Insomnia
  • Narcolepsy
  • Nightmares and night terrors
  • Periodic limb movement
  • Restless leg syndrome
  • Sleep apnea
  • Sleepwalking
  • Sudden awakening

Sleep Testing

Our sleep specialists perform comprehensive sleep evaluations to determine what is interrupting sleep. We then use our findings to create effective treatment plans to resolve the issue and achieve restful sleep.

Testing Options:
  • Sleep Consultation
  • Overnight Sleep Study

We have some exciting announcements to share with you! As of August 1st, we have officially changed our office name to Allied Physicians Allergy, Asthma, & Sinus Center of Long Island!

As part of this transition, we’re thrilled to welcome a new Physician Assistant, Toor Noori, and to announce the return of a valued team member, Nurse Practitioner, Lori Chodash!

Toor Noori, PA, is a compassionate and dedicated physician assistant. She discovered her passion for allergy care while working with the Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Center of Long Island team. Toor excelled at York College School of Health Sciences, where she earned her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies. She currently practices in Brentwood, Babylon, and Hicksville, NY, and speaks several languages, including English, Hindi, and Pushto. Toor is committed to delivering the highest level of patient care and to educating her patients about their conditions.

Lori Chodash, APRN, PNP-PC, PMHNP-BC, is a dedicated Nurse Practitioner specializing in Allergy, Asthma, and Immunotherapy with over 15 years of clinical experience. She holds a Master’s in Nursing with a focus on Pediatric Health from Molloy University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. A lifelong learner, Lori also obtained advanced certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Hofstra University in 2024 graduating with honors and is currently working toward her Doctorate of Nursing Practice. With expertise in managing allergy patients, Lori provides comprehensive care for individuals with asthma, food and environmental allergies, eczema, and other atopic conditions. She is committed to offering holistic, patient-centered care, ensuring each treatment plan is personalized to meet the unique needs of every patient.

Lori has also served as a clinical adjunct instructor at Molloy University, mentoring nursing students during their clinical rotations at Mercy Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, and Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital. Passionate about education, she voluntarily precepts Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioner candidates, preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals. A member of the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Nurses Association, the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, and the National Association of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Lori remains dedicated to advancing her knowledge in allergy and immunology, as well as mental wellness, to provide the highest standard of care. In addition to her clinical work, she is a published author. Lori wrote the book, Hailey’s Brave Visit to the Allergist, which aims to educate and ease the fears of children dealing with allergies and allergy-related health issues. In her free time, Lori loves spending time with her family, traveling, reading and enjoying the beach.

Lori is excited to continue work in the community she calls home, helping improve the quality of life for individuals living with allergies and related conditions.

With the recent departures of Dr. Strauss and Dr. Kreiner, we understand that these changes may feel overwhelming. However, we want to reassure you that our office will continue to provide the same warm, welcoming environment you’ve come to know and trust. The familiar faces you’re used to seeing will still be here, ready to care for you and your loved ones.

We are genuinely excited about what’s ahead! We recognize that this is a time of transition, and we deeply appreciate your continued patience and support throughout the process.

As always, we’re only a phone call away.

Warm regards,
Your Trusted Allied Physicians Allergy, Asthma, & Sinus Center of Long Island Team
