Hi Allied! It’s #TelemedicineTuesday! This week my most common Telemedicine visit was for rashes.
With the measles outbreak, although we (thankfully) have yet to see a case of measles in any Allied office, it is still a concern.
Telemedicine is perfect to help ease rash worries. In fact, Dr. Kerry Fierstein and I were in a meeting this week discussing how Telemedicine can help ease concerns over measles.
This week, I’ve seen a bunch of hives (some related to the season, some from viruses, and some that were of mysterious origin). No matter what the cause, I recommend taking lots of photos to share with me or so you can show your Allied pediatrician if you need an in-person exam.
Other rashes I’ve seen have been eczema, heat rash, and contact dermatitis. Fortunately, none of these look anything like measles.
Besides rashes, I’ve had many patients with itchy eyes, even being itchy all over their body when they’ve been outside enjoying the beautiful (tree pollen-filled) air. I have lots of ideas on how to improve allergy symptoms, and I’ve had parents be very happy to learn some of Dr. Z’s allergy hacks—for example immediately changing clothes after your child comes in from playing outside and getting them into the shower as soon as possible.
